Media, New Technologies and Development in Latin America: Political, Social and Economic Perspectives - July 4-5 2019 - City, University of London - London, United Kingdom

(My apologies if you are receiving the information below twice. I wanted to make sure that both the Media (and) Development and University and Higher Education networks within The Communication Initiative received below - many thanks for your tolerance - Thomas)

Many best wishes.

I wanted to quickly draw your attention to this event Media, New Technologies and Development in Latin America: Political, Social and Economic Perspectives  which will be held in London July 4-5,  2019. If you are based in The UK or will be in London at that time (for example on your way through to IAMCR in Madrid or to attend the the UK Government Media Freedom event) we would very much welcome your participation in these sessions.

For your quick review there is a summary of this Media, New Technologies and Development in Latin America event at this link which also includes a link to the registration form.

These technology and development themes and conditions form the focus for the event:

1. The role for the media in development and for democracy?

2. Ways to ensure better use by social movements, civil society and other marginalized groups (for their) voice in the public sphere?

3. How to use to shape policy and pursuing social change at a global and local level?

4. The theoretical frameworks on communications and social change that we need to revisit?

Presenters include: Jan Nederveen Pieterse, Toby Miller, Ana Carolina Escosteguy, Thea Pitman, Jair Vega Casanova and myself.

To join this discussion please just reply to this email with any observations, issues or questions.

Thanks

Thomas
